Try:
Turn off the automatic spell checker by selecting
Tools | Options | Spell Checking and checking "only when requested"

Typing is delayed inside message

Thanks. I had seen that but left it on. Now turned off.
I'm a terrible speller but wonder why spell check is any different in TB
news reader and Eudora.

Thanks, again, now its much better after applying the control, shift,
tools option outlined in url. It says it reset my setting files.
Restored to what I would call original state. There must have been some
background processes running that were hogging memory as I always keep
active mailboxes to a minimum.
