It's just "base64" (same as if sending it as a binary attachment).

http://www.securitystats.com/tools/base64.php

This is why access to saved Eudora passwords or Eudora.ini file
is as good as revealing the passwords.

It's what you learn, after you know it all, that counts.

[posted a reference to a downloadable program
to find and reveal passwords in Eudora.ini files]

Keep in mind the very old maxim:

"Beware of Geeks bearing gifts"

Every "wonderful little program" offered on the internet
(including "keygens" for creating registration codes
for commercial programs like Eudora)
could possibly come with a little extra geeky content,
which might install something else on your computer,
possibly something you did not invite and would not want,
if you knew it was there (e.g. a "keylogger" to transmit elsewhere
everything you type, or perhaps only logins and passwords,
or perhaps the very information which it "decodes" for you).

Sometimes the "super secure" defenses of your computer
can be penetrated, despite all the hype about them
(I recently experienced my own computer getting a bit hacked
by a web site, specifically compromising a "hole" in Firefox).

So one might consider using only the safest tool for a task,
and take good care about evaluating the risks of any unknown sources,
just as one cautions one's kids about taking candy from strangers.
