Delete Mailbox but save?

  1. Default Delete Mailbox but save?

I want to delete a mailbox but save the contents.

    Suppose I shut-down Eudora (v7.1.0.9)...

Change directory name from "GirlScouts.fol" to "GirlScouts"

    Restart Eudora

Will that eliminate the GirlScout mailbox from the left panel but
preserve the contents should I ever need to restore?

    Thanks!

A directory named "xyz.fol" is a mail _folder_ (a container for mailboxes),
while each mailbox is a pair of files like "abcd.mbx" and "abcd.toc"

So your proposal, if accurate, would eliminate the mail _folder_ named
"GirlScouts" from appearing, as well as any mailboxes within that folder.

Eudora does not delete extra files or folders
which just happen to be stored under the mail "Data" folder.

Other than skipping them during searches,
and very small start-up time inventorying and checking modification times,
not much is gained by hiding mailbox folders, which is why
I archive my old mail by just moving archivable mailboxes
into mail folders (which in turn can contain even more folders,
so one single "archive" folder can contain eons of old mail).
