Fortran Forum Recommendation

This is a discussion on Fortran Forum Recommendation within the Fortran forums in Programming Languages category; Recommend that the title be changed to capitalize only the first letter of the name FORTRAN. Just a nit but since the word "forum" is lower cased, it could be argued that it isn't being done as a common practice of upper casing the title. It would appear to be perpetuating the former obsolescent practice of upper casing the name. I very much like the improved, slick cover versus the prior one. I think we can still do better (e.g. full color). You could produce a very appealing magazine-quality document on a home computer nowadays for next to nothing. I ...

(I hope it has little relationship to APA format which is about as
obsolete as you can get).

I guess another point...some of the code snippets are in an atrocious
style with no indention, no line spacing, etc. Recommend a standardized
clean, easier to read style for code snippets.

I noticed that clf's Arjen Markus contributes this time. I wish I had I
had the means to buy every fortran tool I wanted, but alas, I was only
middle class before Bush II.

My starting salary was 21600 in 1981. I thought I was rich.

It's a pity that Fortran Forum remains so inaccessible. I have tried to
subscribe a few times in the past, but always failed (can't remember
what the ACM site objected to, perhaps not having a US-registered
address or US credit card, or maybe that I wasn't already an ACM
member).

I've also tried to read it via the Athens system which allows UK
academics to access a vast number of scientific publications on-line,
but the ACM chooses to not make this one available that way. I have
access to two university libraries (one a copyright library), but
neither of them takes the paper version.

I know that I have contributed to Fortran Forum (because the editor has
been kind enough to send me a copy of my own text) but as far as I'm
concerned, it remains a write-only medium. And I have not yet come
across another Fortran user in my own field who has even heard of the
publication. :-(

Come on, Clive, you've been moaning about this biennially for years. I
don't live in the US, do not have a US credit card, and am not a
member of the ACM. And I have NO PROBLEM suscribing.

If at first you don't succeed ...

I am the sort of person who usually has all sorts of trouble with
things like this, but I had no trouble registering for the free
reading of Volume 27, Issue 1 (April 2008) issue. I am sure I could
have read other issues if I had wanted to.
