Complete idiot wanting to install gnuplot 4.0 : Graphics
This is a discussion on Complete idiot wanting to install gnuplot 4.0 within the Graphics forums in Theory and Concepts category; Hi Sorry to trouble you guys, but I'm trying to install gnuplot 4.0 and I don't have a clue how. I've followed the gnuplot main site's link to sourceforge, and that then gives me a list of files to download. My question is, what do I do to them then? Do I download them to a special directory and pray? (The only reason I say this is that last time I downloaded a version of gnuplot, it was simply an installer package - I am not particularly good at IT etc.) I'm running Windows XP. Cheers! Sounds like you probably want just this file: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/g...gp400win32.zip It is a "zip" (compressed) archive, so you will need to extract it to some suitable directory... I don't use Win XP but I seem to recall it is capable of handling zip files, so after downloading you can probably just double-click it. Once extracted, read the README.Windows file included in the archive. Hope this helps, -- Lionel B |

| Hi Thanks very much - that was EXACTLY what I needed! All i had to do was unZip the contents to a folder, and make a link to the executable in my Start menu. Your help was very much appreciated. All I need to do now is make some graphs! Michael |
