PeakStream CTO To Discuss Data-Parallel Programming Models for Multi-
Core Processors At CGO 2007
San Jose, Calif. - March 5, 2007 - Matthew Papakipos, founder and
chief technology officer of PeakStream, Inc., will be leading a
workshop, "Data-Parallel Programming Models for Many-Core
Architectures," examining emerging programming models for leveraging
multi-core processors for high performance computing at the 2007
International Symposium on Code Generation and Optimization (CGO).
Who:
PeakStream founder and CTO Matthew Papakipos, along with Anwar Ghuloum
of Intel's Programming Systems Lab, will introduce new data-parallel
programming models that are helping programmers tackle the numerous
hurdles and productivity problems associated with developing software
for increasingly parallel architectures.
What:
The annual International Symposium on Code Generation and Optimization
(CGO) brings together researchers and practitioners working on
feedback-directed optimization and back-end compilation techniques.
The conference covers optimization for parallelism, performance, power
and security.
Talk Details:
This workshop will gather commercial and academic researchers, vendors
and users of data-parallel programming platforms to discuss
implementation experiences and techniques for a broad range of multi-
core architectures while discussing the future direction of
programming-models. It will examine the inherent shortcomings and
difficulties with automatic parallelization and manual parallel
programming models that are creating enormous programmer productivity
problems. It will also explore the factors making emerging models for
parallel programming extremely attractive.
When:
This workshop will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2007 from 8:00 am
- 12:00 pm PST.
CGO 2007 will be held from March 11 - 14, 2007 and precedes the annual
ACM SIGPLAN Symposium on Principles and Practice of Parallel
Programming (PPoPP 2007).
Where:
CGO 2007 will be held at Hotel Valencia, located at 355 Santana Row in
San Jose, California.
