light problem, penetrates walls, don't want it to. how?
I have a spot light that is sending a volumetric light through a window in a
wall (box) (to a room). i want the end result to show just the rays from
that window opening. i accomplish that but also i receive a round spot light
at the plane (floor) where the light hit the floor (where the spot is way
bigger that the window as if the wall is transparent).
how can i remove that round disk of light and have only the light (in the
shape of that window opening) only?
i would post a pic if it helps any.
please help, i hope i explained my self, if not please ask me what more info
u need.
thanks
Jim

Does the light cast shadows?

Re: light problem, penetrates walls, don't want it to. how?
change the cone of the light to a square, then resize so that it is the same
size as the window frame.

oops, forgot to mention, once you have changed the target spot to a
rectangle cone, change the size via the aspect button. All the above is done
in the spotlight parameters rollout.

Re: light problem, penetrates walls, don't want it to. how?
If, when you're looking at the wall from the light's perspective, you
don't see the wall...neither does the light. Make the material 2-sided.
Alternatively, clone the wall (shift+left click), flip the normals and
move it a litle back so that it doesn't lie on the same plane as the
original. sorted!

Re: light problem, penetrates walls, don't want it to. how?
well, i appreciate the solution suggested, can u suggest anything where i do
not have to change the light to square, and just let the window shape
determin the shadow/light cast ???
i would really appreciate that efforts and the thoughts.
thanks
