Memory problems on A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard
Greetings,
Like the title says I have a memory problem with my motherboard.
About a month ago my old motherboard broke down due to some faulty
electronic components and I was forced to buy both new memory and
motherboard.
Due to my limited economy at this point I could only afford one dual DDR
memory stick. After consulting with the store about memory that would fit
for this board and that would also have some speed the memory of choice was
a 512mb PC3200 CL 2.5 Kingstone valueram module.
Everything worked great until yesterday when I finally had the money to go
buy a second module of the very same memory.
After installing the memory I instantly got problems in windows xp and from
experience (it was pretty crystal clear what was the problem as well) I knew
it was faulty ram. After a test run with the latest version of memtest86
(version 3.1a) it got about 86000 errors on the first run.Of course my next
step was to test the modules one and one... but I pretty fast came to the
conclusion the modules where not bad link here. When I place either of the 2
modules in bank B1 they work 100%... I have tested both memories for a few
hours each in this bank and they check out... Now if I place any of the
modules in bank A1 or A2 memtest86 always gets errors... mostly in test 5
(block move).
Now my question is:
Are 2 of the 3 banks faulty? this would be very odd...
Or are these memory modules not compatible with the board? This would also
be odd since 1 bank has worked perfect for 3 months I just happend to put
the memory in a non faulty bank from the start....
I have tested with bios version 1008 and 1010 which are the 2 latests with
the same result. And also tried every possible bios setting except turning
down the memorys frequency below default since they are supposed to be able
to work at 200x2.
Im thankful for responce of what the cause of the problem could be and if
itīs fixable in some way before I have to rip out the board and turn in both
board and memory on warranty for checkup.

I've just got the same MB and am experiencing problems with it as well
which Asus says is 'probably' due to the DDR PC3200 memory I'm using.
I only have one stick so don't know if I would have the same problems
as you but there is a known problem with the MB being flaky with
PC3200 memory unless its one of the certified types. Have a look an
the Asus site - I know Kingston is one of the certified manufacturers
but you would need to check the memory part number against the list.
It's on the MB specifications page. Not much help I know but at least
it might help you make a decision as to what to do next - if its one
of the certified sticks then the problem lies with Asus, if not they
will wash their hands of the problem.
