Adding more RAM is easy, but you must be absolutely sure that you are using
a compatible chip, and there are many different chips. Check your manual, or
go to the manufacturer's web site for the specifications.

Adding RAM to a 600 series Thinkpad is simplicity itself. Open the memory
access panel on the bottom of the unit and you'll see the two memory slots.
The 600E will take up to a maximum of two 256MB sticks for a total of 556MB
installed when added to the 32MB that's permanently installed on the
motherboard.
The 600E will happily use PC100 RAM provided it is lo-density, lo-profile.
You can tell if you have the correct PC100 RAM by counting the memory chips
on the stick. A 256MB lo-density stick will have EIGHT memory chips per
SIDE.
Best suppliers are Crucial, Kingston and Viking.
Regardless of what you might be told by some sellers, the 600E will NOT work
with PC133 memory!
