There has been an extensive discussion in comp.sys.laptops about exactly the reverse: a 3.5" to be connected to a laptop. The answer there was that - apart from the different power problem - such a connector did not exist, maybe could be constructed by oneself, but required some specialistic wiring that could well be not available as well. I guess the other way around isn't much different. -- CeeBee *** The Cookie Has Spoken *** |

You're joking, right? A 2.5 to 3.5 adapter is a common item, should cost about $5 or even less. To the OP: try compgeeks, outpost, or cyberguys. Even CompUSA probably has them, though they'll most likely overcharge you. Jerry > |

I missed this thread, so apologize when already mentioned. Apart from the USB adapters I have to connect 2.5 IDE drives to a PC I have also two different simple (even cheaper) connectors to do the same thing. First one is designed to connect straight to a IDE socket on the motherboard, the second one plugs straight in the master or slave socket on the normal IDE cable. Both have a short cable with a regular molex connector (but only two pins) to supply power. So no need to use an USB connection. On this webpage you might find examples of above connectors: http://www.myelectronics.nl/index.ht...rget=d234.html or in short http://tinylink.com/?5jOJWjZMtk |
