in the auth.log I found almost the same entry...
pop3d[687]: could not find auxprop plugin, was searching for 'mysql'

Indeed points on, that Cyrus SASL doesn't found the MySQL Plugin. But I
compiled SASL --with-mysql=/pathtomysql/ or how must the mysql plugin
compiled into Cyrus SASL?
