| Hello Is there a way of searching the body of an IMAP email for specific text? I have over 700 bounce backs in my inbox of email addresses that need to be taken off our lists. Due to time constraints, i have been asked not to do this manually and produce a list of email addresses. I am accessing the inboxes through Outlook 2008 and thunderbird. Any ideas/programs/addons would be much appriciated Thanks |

Yes, the IMAP protocol does include a search function. > I have over 700 bounce backs in my inbox of email addresses that need > to be taken off our lists. Next time, instead of screwing around with your own hacked-up mailing list code, you should've used any one of the mailing list management software that's freely available on the Internet that automatically removes undeliverable addresses from the subscription rolls. > I am accessing the inboxes through Outlook 2008 and thunderbird. Both of them have an easily available search function. Just type the text you're looking for, and they'll search all messages to find ones that contain the entered text string. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEABECAAYFAkh1/O4ACgkQx9p3GYHlUOJWWACeI/ugqJsXC1ex3WVF6QvrMZUM LKUAn0JJrv2D+uc470i1Ff94iSJp6iuK =MqkN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

I presume you're asking about mailing list management software. The two most popular free mailing list managers are mailman and majordomo. Google them.. These two can be adapted to work with any mail server. There are a couple of others, which are designed to work with a specific mail server only. Collectively, they are used to host tens of thousands of mailing lists, worlwide. There's no reason not to use them, if you need to run a mailing lists. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEABECAAYFAkh2jB8ACgkQx9p3GYHlUOIBNwCfW3LbxnOAyE tmFiZHznHL69x/ S3sAnj0US9b4INjJG9H4RXnrsUjqQ00J =DF8M -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
