ftp gets redirected.

  1. Default ftp gets redirected.

I have a bunch of users connecting to an FTP server with their AD account.
Works fine for all but one. This particular user types the following into
the browser: "ftp://server" and they get prompted for their credentials. The
server log shows that the login was successful, but the person gets
"redirected" to "ftp://)@server" and there is an error msg that it can't
resolve the name. If I try with my account to access "ftp://)@server" it
prompts me for my credentials and takes me to "ftp://server".

There are no home directories or anything special involved. Rights are
granted to "everyone" so that doesn't seem to be a problem either.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

  2. Default Re: ftp gets redirected.

Weird... now - does it works if user connect via ftp.exe at command line?

how about other browser? same redirection?

  3. Default Re: ftp gets redirected.

using Browzar, the redirection is different. It goes to "username@)@server"

wasn't able to get the error msg from ftp.exe, but we tried it previously to
    no avail.

    Thanks.

  4. Default Re: ftp gets redirected.

Just a follow-up for anyone looking for a solution....

Resetting the users password fixed the problem. Turns out this not so
bright individual had special characters in her password, and danged if they
weren't the same characters that were showing up in the address bar of the
    browser....

    Some people's kids...

    thanks for the help!
