Re: IIS 5.1 Page cannot be displayed
Look further down the bottom of the page for an error message. If the server
can not be found, you will see something like "DNS error or server can not
be found". If the server can be found, but is throwing an error you will see
something like "404 File Not found" or "500 Internal Server Error", in which
case, if you are using IE, please goto Tool -> internet Options -> Advanced
and uncheck "Show Friendly HTTP Errors" and loread the page so we can see
the real error.
"Page can not be displayed" is just a generic error, you need to look
further to see what the real errror is.
Cheers

Re: IIS 5.1 Page cannot be displayed
Hi,
I do not get any of the message
I get Internet explorer DNS error
If I uncheck the Show friendly HTTP errors then I get a
blank page with a message done on the bottom left in the
status bar with hour glass.
So Unable to trace the real error.
What I understand is http://localhost is unable to map
with c:\inetpub\wwwroot.
So bcos of this I am unable to create web applications in
Visual Studio.NET
Any further assistance/suggestions will be helpful
Thanks

Re: IIS 5.1 Page cannot be displayed
Try:
Cannot find "localhost":
Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings ->
Uncheck everything.

Re: IIS 5.1 Page cannot be displayed
Hi,
This is the message I get when I try connnecting to
localhost
http://localhost generates the following error
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The
Web site
might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may
need to
adjust your browser settings. Please try the following:
Click the
Refresh button, or try again later. If you typed the page
address in
the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
To check
your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then
click
Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings.
The
settings should match those provided by your local area
network
(LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). If
you are
trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security
settings can
support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet
Options.
On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and
check
settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
