dllhost.exe using too much memory

  1. Default dllhost.exe using too much memory

Recently some of the web applications I have running on our Win2K
server have been failing and it seems to be associated with
dllhost.exe I just looked at it now and it is hold 500 Megs worth of
memory. If I restart the web publishing service then everything works
fine and dllhost.exe reduces its memory consumption.

I looked to see what COM objects are running and I am not sure if any
of them are the problem. I cant decipher them.

I have 4 running in System Application :

    CatSrv: Catalog Server
    EventPublisher
    COMSVCS: Tracker Server
    Mts.MtsGrp

And I have 1 running in IIS OutofProcess

    IISWAM.OutofProcessPool

I also checked to make sure I did not have any viruses that affect
dllhost.exe. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    thanks
    Mark

  2. Default dllhost.exe using too much memory

    Mark,

If there are one or more sites that you suspect, set them
all to run in High Isolation. Then when you see the
dllhost using a large amount of memory, get the PID for
that dllhost and compare that PID to those you will find
in component services for each site. If you find it, you
have your culprit, otherwise return those sites to their
previous isolation level and try again with other sites.
