intranet setup

This is a discussion on intranet setup within the Inetserver forums in Microsoft Tools category; I'm trying to setup an intranet. I can access with the IP address. Where can I find step-by-step instructions for getting something like: http://local.mydomain.com working? I added a host record: local no joy. thanks...

I've been trying combinations of different host headers, DNS entries, etc.
and just not getting it.

Does anyone have a step-by-step setup for server setup to get an intranet
running?

thanks
