Default IIS SMTP 'Masquerade domain'

We are running an application on a Windows 2003 Server, with IIS SMTP
server installed. The application uses localhost relaying to send SMTP
messages to IIS, where they get sent to Exchange.

There is a setting within IIS SMTP config for Masquerade domain.

I assume if this is set, then the domain name of any emails sent is
changed to that setting.

For instance, if the application sends mails FROM:
application@domain.co.uk, and the Masquerade domain is set to:
domain2.co.uk, then the mails will appear in Outlook as
application@domain2.co.uk

Can anyone tell me if it's the FROM: field in the mail Header
information that is changed and/or the MAIL FROM: field in the SMTP
envelope that is changed as well?

Thanks in advance.
