I've been following the "what programming language" threads for a while and
in a precis here is what I think the more "intellectual" members of this
group forget:

When a job says "C and SQL", sure SQL is important : but at the end of the
day any idiot can grep for a suitable select statement. Thats one part of
the bigger picture. And besides, most are coded in SQl functions anayway.

The rest is data manipulation in a time efficent manner. Cross borders.
Cross platforms.

That is where the *programmers* job comes in.

I left this little rant deliberately short. I hope the come backs from
peope who have programmed real systems, not little backstreet games, come
in and agree.
