UML Modelling Tool
Hi all, I am looking for recommendations for a UML modelling tool for Java
development. I don't need all of the high-end features of hideously
expensive options such as Together and Rational Rose. I've tried ArgoUML
and it's good as far as it goes but there are no sequence diagrams in the
current version. Poseidon UML looks like a reasonable option, but I'd be
interested to hear any other suggestions. Are there any other open-source
projects in this area?
Thanks,
Dan.

I like Poseidon, myself. But I don't do a lot of modeling.
Take a look at Visual Paradigm. One of the editions may have all the
features you're looking for.
The limited community edition is free, but the enterprise edition can even
model your databases with ERD's.

Re: UML Modelling Tool
I suggest you try Jude as IchBin suggested. We use Jude a lot at work
and we are very happy with it.

Re: UML Modelling Tool
Hi Daniel
Umlet Eclipse UML Plugin. Very (very) simple, but intuitive.
Very useful for quick diagramming to be used as pictures/documentation. No
code generation in the plugin I have.
Martin Fowler liked it....
Cheers

MagicDraw's another. Community ed. is good and free.
I've used both MagicDraw and Poseidon, each have their plus's and
minuses.

He's right - Jude is good and it is free and it does more than Poseidon or
ArgoUML.
I suggested Poseidon, then saw this post - and checked it out.
Jude works a little different than Poseidon and ArgoUML - but it has 2-way
import-export of java files.
I'm looking at Jude a little more, now.

I've been using it for at least 3 years, pretty good product.
