Java 1.5 + Swing + Java 'LAF' + WinXP + Taskbar doesn't appear ?

  1. Default Java 1.5 + Swing + Java 'LAF' + WinXP + Taskbar doesn't appear ?

    Hi All,

    I have a Java 1.5 + Swing - GUI application.

I'm using Java 'Look & Feel' and running under WinXP.

My XP taskbar is set to 'auto-hide'.

When my GUI is maximized, the WinXP taskbar doesn't appear when I move
my cursor to the bottom of the screen.

    Question.

    Is this 'normal'

    TIA

    Bill

    Note.

Questions should end with a '?'.

    To your question.
I trimmed the above carefully to represent
    my own system.

I specifically trimmed the part about Java
and Look and Feel, because I can observe
that behaviour when I maximise the Windows
OS component and attempt to find the task
bar - mo JVM in the picture.

So. I'd say it is relatively common, and if
you mean 'normal' in that sense, then - yes.

(Others feel free to chime in with 'get yourself
    a real OS'..)

Sound like you're having trouble with your MoJo ?

    Bill

    As for operating systems;

    George 3
    Digico RTS-16
    Data General Eclipse - ?
    Prime - Primus ?
    CP/M
    DOS
    VM
    MVS
    Windows 3.1+ all the rest
    OS2

    - not sure what you mean by a 'real' operating system? If you mean a Unix
variant, then probably the nearest equivalent would be George 3. Of couse
MVS has Unix 'built-in'. The company I work for is moving away from small
stand alone servers, and is instead creating logical Unix servers running
under MVS. They claim they can create a logical server in 10 minutes, as
opposed to ordering a server, then another qa server, then a development
server, then a sandbox server, then finding room to install 4 servers,
(production & backup servers can't be in the same datacenter), and then
actually installing software on them all.

I don't know about normal but certainly annoying.
Eclipse IDE does this to me often, but not consistently.
Sure would like to know why. Better, how to fix it.

It's as though Java somehow gets confused between Maximized and
Full-screen (as when you hit F11 on most modern web browsers).

I've seen this happen with any number of applications, Java or
otherwise. I'd say its more a bug of Windows than anything else.
