I also have an index page that loads in pieces.
http://homepage.mac.com/gregoryhoose...inn/index.html
. it is not sliced. i am using background images to get the color i need
(using color swatches makes it easier to globally change the color dynamic of a
site; including spry menu items). perhaps this is delaying the load. it used
to be that one could delay the loading of a page until all the elements were in
place, preloaded. then the page would appear all at once. i seem to remember
this in other web design engines in the past. is there a way to effect this
action?

Re: Browsers load pages messily
Your host server is pretty slow. The page is pretty heavy given your 3.3MB
animated GIF image. That's a terrible way to do such a thing, you know?
Use Flash or javascript to acccomplish the same thing at a fraction of the
weight. And definitely never use GIF on photos.
Also, you have used a PNG format for this image -

Never use PNG for photos like that, either.
