Change to Apache stopped Firefox previews

This is a discussion on Change to Apache stopped Firefox previews within the Macromedia Dreamweaver forums in Adobe Tools category; No error message. If I copy a localhost URL that is displaying in IE, paste it into Firefox and hit enter, the only thing that happens is that the cross icon displays red for a second. The URL continues to show in the address bar but the currently displayed page doesn't change. Sounds like no-one has the same problem so I'll try digging around my system. Thanks for your time....

My virtual hosts stopped working after "upgrading" to Norton 360. It
trashed my hosts file. Check that your hosts file is still OK.

Thanks Dave that's a clue albeit in reverse. Around the same time I installed
Apache I successfully ditched Norton 360 (after downloading the uninstall
application and praying etc!) and installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus. So it might
be a Norton legacy or a Kaspersky feature! However, it seems specific to
Firefox as my server works fine with Dreamweaver and IE displays all my local
host files.
