Hello all, Sorry for what may be a newb question, but I'm fooling around with embedding a flash video file and absolutly nothing shows on the page either in preview or published form. All files are in the same directory as the page. Here is a link: http://www.petersenfamily.net/testvideo.html Anyone have any ideas? First time trying this.....seemed easy enough, famous last words....haha Thanks, Rich

Some of the basics with SWF's is that the SWF 'FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf' has to be in the same location as the HTML page http://www.petersenfamily.net/testvideo.html. Are they?

Yes sir, the skin swf, the flvplayer swf, the flv file and the html page are all in the root of the site. Also, Scripts is uploaded with AC_RunActiveContent.js inside of it. Rich

That's not correct. A root relative link to the SWF works fine. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "Cory C." <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:g9sk5d$hjd$1@forums.macromedia.com... > Some of the basics with SWF's is that the SWF 'FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf' > has to be in the same location as the HTML page > http://www.petersenfamily.net/testvideo.html. > > Are they?

Hi. I think that the problem is your flv video, perhaps is corrupted. Try to encode again your video. Some older flv encoders do not place the correct MetaData in the file. AMA_Races_Road_Atlanta_Aug2008.flv is definitely missing MetaData. There is a free Windows program that can fix this problem, flvmdi http://www.buraks.com/flvmdi/ After I ran the file through flvmdi, everything worked fine on my local system. FishWagon, if you're not comfortable with the command line, get both flvmdi294exe.zip and flvmdigui105.zip from the downloads section of that page. -- Mark A. Boyd Keep-On-Learnin' ![]()

Thanks everyone..... Miguel and Mark were right. I recently upgraded to Pinnacle Studio 12, and that should have told me something......I guess I didn't have enough coffee that day... Mark, thanks for the program info and link, that fixed it fine. Appreciate all the help everyone.... Rich

Guess I'll revise my memory to avoid "older" when speaking about flv encoders omitting MetaData. > Mark, thanks for the program info and link, that fixed it fine.
