The alt attribute does exactly what it's supposed to do in all browsers
I'm aware of. For some reason, IE also uses it for a tooltip in the
    absence of a title attribute.

The title attribute works for a tooltip in those browsers and in IE.

Thanks. I just added 'title' and its attribute to the alt attributes. It works OK everywhere and validates OK for STRICT.

    Thanks - Solved
