| Hi, I'm a totally newbie and have googled and searched this group for an answer to this. Maybe its too simple? I have 900 x 150 banner that I want to put a base color on. I'd like it to be dark on the left and slowly fade to white at right side of it. I'm a db developer who has been asked to do some creative work and I'm way outta my element here ![]() Can anyone show me how I can accomplish this 'fade to white' using Fireworks CS3? Thanks! |

| Well, this can't be right but it accomplishes what i wanted. I used the gradient tool. My banner is 900 wide and 150 high. When i filled it the transition was from top to bottom. I couldn't see how to change the direction of the transition so I flipped the dimensions of the banner, filled it with the gradient and then rotated it 90 degrees ccw. Seems like I ought to be able to select the direction of the gradient though. Is that posisble? |

| Yes. Use the gradient tool in the 'Tools' panel, on the left Colors section. Then just place your cursor where you want your gradient to start. Hold down the shift key to constrain vertical, horizontal and 45 degree angles. | also, if you notice on the gradient guide line there is a circle and a square at each end. double click and hold down on one of these and drag it to create the exact placement and type of gradient effect you want. |
