simple blend howto

This is a discussion on simple blend howto within the Macromedia Fireworks forums in Adobe Tools category; Sorry I'm not too familiar with Fireworks. What's the best way to achieve a simple blend as can be seen on the below image? All I want is to blend the edge of an image to white. Your help is appreciated. Thank you! http://demo.rockettheme.com/jun08/te...e4/page-bg.jpg...

Thanks for that. Worked well so far.

I was able to fade the bottom of the image. Now I also want to fade the
opposite side. When I try to use that command again it deletes my
current fade and adds a new fade.

How can I use 2 fades?

Thank you!

Try the circular fade (bottom left in CS3) and then move the handles for the
gradient mask so that the circle is in the upper corner you want solid and the
square is towards the corner you want transparent. By adjusting the distance
between these handles, you can control the rate of fade. By adjusting the
distance of the handles from the corners, you can control how much of your
image is fully opaque and how much is fully transparent.

Does that work for you?

If not, then you're going to have to export the image as a .png with alpha
transparency (32 bit), then bring it in again and fade the other direction.

Group the first mask group by selecting the mask group in the layers
panel and choosing Modify > Group. Once you've done that you can apply a
second mask.
