I've been able to open Photoshop files in FW9 before with all the layers intact. But, for some reason, I'm trying to open a PSD file in FW and it keeps opening as a flattened bitmap. The PSD file is 16-bit (not 32). Any ideas on how I can get this PSD to open with all its layers intact? Thanks, Ron

Hi Jim, No. There's no error message. FW simply opens the PSD file as a flattened bitmap. What's strange is that I just finished working on a different PSD file that opened correctly (with all layers intact) in FW. - Ron

Well, this is a bit odd. I went ahead and tried opening a handful of different PSD files in FW9. Some opened successfully with layers intact, while others opened as a flattened bitmap. I checked the Import prefs in FW and everything looks correct. - Ron

Thanks, Jim. I didn't realize that about adjustment layers. I'll need to review exactly which PS features are not supported by FW. That may be the problem. Thanks again! Ron

Smart Objects come in as flattened bitmaps, Adjustment layers are ignored unless you bring in the file as a flat file. On the upside, the Beta now supports the opening of Layer comps (1 at a time) and text is much better. PS vectors are also handled better too. -- Jim Babbage - .:Community MX:. & .:Adobe Community Expert:. http://www.communityMX.com/ CommunityMX - Free Resources: http://www.communitymx.com/free.cfm --- .:Adobe Community Expert for Fireworks:. | Jim, I think I figured out what's happening. It looks like the PSD files that open as a flattened bitmap are set as 16-bit color under Image Mode. Is it just 8-bit PSD files that will open in FW with layers intact? I thought it was only the 32-bit files that won't open intact in FW.... Thanks, Ron |
