CS4 - Text looks choppy and blurry

  1. Default CS4 - Text looks choppy and blurry

I am going from Fireworks 4 to Fireworks CS4. The type in Fireworks 4 was
smooth, almost vector-ish. It could be part of an image and still look like
HTML text in a web page. The text (10-12 pixels or so) in Fireworks CS4 looks
blurry and not good at all...definitely not suitable as a substitute for the
clarity of HTML text. I have also noticed this in previous versions of
Photoshop, which is why I always turned to my trusty Fireworks 4 when I wanted
good, clean text on an image. I am hoping there is something I am
missing....some setting or something....does anyone else notice this? My
clients do, and they complain about it. Please help!

Here is an example of what I'm working with:

You can have a look at this dev article that highlights the new Adobe Type
    Engine - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/firework...xt_engine.html.

In a nutshell, what you experienced in 4 is based on a different 'engine'
(Macromedia) and CS4 finally makes the full transition, on par with other Adobe
    applications.

In your particular case, at least in my experience, when ever I use Verdana, I
find it looks better with Anti-Alias to None. It looks a lot closer to 'web'
than with any AA on. Thats just my opinion, here. See if that makes a
    difference.

Kim Cavanaugh wrote a good article on this subject at Community MX.
Could be worth a read. Text handling is very similar now to Photoshop
and resolves may issues for those who need to open PSD files in FW or
Save PSD files in FW for editing in PS.

By any chance are you using Faux bold options for fonts instead of using the
true bold font weight, in your designs? That could be one of the reasons why
you are seeing blurry text. As mentioned by Darrell, do have a look at the
following article which mentions about this and many more in text handling for
    Fireworks CS4.

    Thanks,
