i have just installed a new harddisk, instead of the old (wintel machine) i had CS3 running in trialmode on the old - when i started CS3 on the new harddisk, i was told that there was a "problem" with the licence - so did Adobe flash CS3 actually flash my bios? - as far as i can figure, that would be the only way the newly installed version could know that there previously was a version on the machine... this would bring totally new meaning to "flash" - and i, for one, will be done with adobe products !! one thing is that i paid a small fortune for the program and then have to phone the company to "activate" it - (i always keep my work machines unconnected - the perfect firewall) but if these guys meddle with my bios - well lets just say: GRRRRR:shocked;

Drive serial numbers are unqiue - so it sounds like it must just store that in your licensing data at Adobe. The installer isn't doing anything to your BIOS. -- Dave - www.offroadfire.com Head Developer http://www.blurredistinction.com Adobe Community Expert http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/

as mentioned - the machine is unconnected - as in not on the internet! the messages comes as soon as i start the cs3 - (i would not get this kind of paranoid if such simple explanations was possible)

It had to be connected when you originally registered the software though, didn't it? If not, then you had to likely give a key number to a phone in number - and that key number would be based on your drive serial number... Either way - it isn't doing anything BIOS related. -- Dave - www.offroadfire.com Head Developer http://www.blurredistinction.com Adobe Community Expert http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/
