I installed Shockwave Flash player from the Adobe site, and the graphic says Installation Complete. When I try to play a Shockwave Flash object file, it does not play, instead giving me a window to search on the web for a program to open it or to choose from a list. Nothing will open it. Windows Search on the PC reveals numerous files and programs in the system associated with the search word Shockwave. What can I do?

When you install off of the website, you are installing a browser plug-in. To open a SWF off of the desktop, you need a stand-alone player, which can be difficult to find. But, no fear, you can open that SWF file with your internet browser as long as the plug-in is installed.

Never mind, I got it to play by choosing Internet Explorer from the list of programs that appears. Duh. Thanks for your help.
