I notice a file called getflash.exe among some other files of a project I have done that includes some flash audio buttons created by a program called mp3 to swf. What is this file do? I assume it checks to see if the viewer of the poject has the flash player needed, and maybe even updates the one already there. That is what I would want other projects that I am wriing to do also, but don't know how to include this file manually. Can anyone there direct me. Must be some code tht needs to be included? thanks in advance, ChukkaJohn

getflash.exe I believe is the distributed updater that updates the users flash version. So in that sense you are right. If you are doing local flash work I think this will work ok. Its when you get into flash on the web that it gets a little sketchy. You can't reasonably ask your users to download and run an executable file named getflash.exe. Its way too risky. An alternative is using SWFObject with Expressinstall.swf. What expressinstall does is, if the user does not have the required flash player version (a version you can manually specify) then it will automatically prompt them to upgrade to the most recent version. It does all this through the flash player in the browser. It's a pretty nice way to keep users on top of the newest flash player release without bugging them to download and run an executable file that may or may not be trustworthy in their eyes.

Thanks, Pixel, but how do you use swfobjects and expressinstall. How do you include it with your project that you are doing. For example, I have done a presentation in Captivate. How do I include said files with it so they work? I know this is such a dumb and fundamental question, but that is the stage I am at. Thanks, ChukkaJohn.
