Well I think if you know how to encode a flash movie into a website then you can advertise by making a flash cartoon to advertise.

I am brand spanking new to Flash and am learning as much as I can right now
through Lynda.com. My goal is to design some musicians' websites that want to
sell their music as a download - is there any way I can do this using Flash?
Any help would help me mucho.
Well I think if you know how to encode a flash movie into a website then you can advertise by making a flash cartoon to advertise.
I was thinking more along the lines of allowing users to actually preview, purchase and download from the site - in Flash if it's possible?
If you want to see a good example of what you are asking:
http://www.firstcom.com
This website displays their catalog in a flash pop-up, allows you to preview
the audio, and, with an account, download music. And, with the advent of
Player10, you can now allow people to download files directly through the flash
app, with no other technologies involved.
I can't help you if you want to learn how to build a player. But if you just
want to get the job done without having to do much coding, the easiest way is
to pay for and download a finished, skinnable .mp3 player from a site that
sells components like FlashDen.net. They sell literally thousands of components
that let you either tweak the code to customize your project or avoid coding
altogether.
The components look extremely professional and most are skinnable, i.e. you
can replace the graphics with art you designed yourself to make it match your
site. Plus, they're cheap. Players that download will average about $10-$20.
I've never paid more than $40.00 for anything I've bought from them. Also check
out a site called FlashComponents.net or .com. I can't remember which. Just do
a search. But there are lots of sites that sell cheap Flash components.
I have to warn you though, many of the components are XML based. If you're new
to coding, it might look scary, but it's a lot like HTML. If you stare at it
long enough, it'll start to make sense. Just type the file paths and names of
your .mp3 files into the XML file between the tags (<tags>These are what tags
look like</tags>) so the player knows what music to play and run the .swf file.
Be careful. Those sites have so much great stuff that you could end up
spending a ton of money. I went there to look for one $8.00 component I needed
and ended up spending over $200.00.
