Greetings,

I have a single forest, single domain, single exchange organization with 2
exchange servers. The servers are located in different countries and
connected by a vpn over a DSL-speed connection.

I would like to move several mailboxes to a different server so that these
users can be 'closer' to their email server. The problem I am seeing is that
mail messages between mailboxes on server A and mailboxes on server B are
not flowing. Each server is its own 'Master' within a distinct routing
group. The routing groups (RGs) are connected using a routing group
connector (RGC).

In ESM on server A
Under Tools->Monitoring and Status->Status, this is what I see
RGC Available
RGC Available
Server A Available
Server B Unreachable

Likewise In ESM on server B
Under Tools->Monitoring and Status->Status, this is what I see
RGC Available
RGC Available
Server B Available
Server A Unreachable

Im also using GFI Mail Essentials with the POP Connector to retrieve email
from externally-hosted mailboxes.

Any ideas why each server seems unreachable from the other? I am able to
telnet on port 25 from one to the other and vice-versa. Does the RGC between
the routing groups require something other than the abitlity to connect to
the remote SMTP server? For example, must it have relay permission or
something?

Thanks

Charlie
