| Here is my situation: I have a single Win2K domain with two Sites. SiteA has 1 x Win2K DC with all roles and 1 x Exchange2000 server which is also a DC SiteB has 1 x Win2K DC and 1 x Exchange2000 server. I also have two brand new win2003 member servers (one at each site). I am wanting to install Exchange2003 on the new win2003 servers and retire the older Exchange2000 servers. I have had a look at this article, which seems to be the only one which fits my situation on the entire web: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/...-Hardware.html but i am still confused about the mangled attributes. I think i'm getting mixed up between my Exchange Domain/Forest Prep and Win2003 Domain/Forest Preps. Because I cant work out which I have to do first in order to make my life simplest. Any help much appreciated Jon Barber |

| The choice is yours but if you choose to introduce Windows 2003 AD Controllers, (ADPREP) before you remove your last Exchange 2000 Server you will need to perform the InetOrgPersonfix script, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=314649 -- John Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2006 Microsoft Certified Partner <jonbarber@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1158171751.735558.243690@i3g2000cwc.googlegro ups.com... > Here is my situation: > > I have a single Win2K domain with two Sites. > SiteA has 1 x Win2K DC with all roles and 1 x Exchange2000 server which > is also a DC > SiteB has 1 x Win2K DC and 1 x Exchange2000 server. > > I also have two brand new win2003 member servers (one at each site). > I am wanting to install Exchange2003 on the new win2003 servers and > retire the older Exchange2000 servers. > > I have had a look at this article, which seems to be the only one which > fits my situation on the entire web: > > http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/...-Hardware.html > > but i am still confused about the mangled attributes. > > I think i'm getting mixed up between my Exchange Domain/Forest Prep and > Win2003 Domain/Forest Preps. | Thanks John, just to clarify, would you recommend the following: 1. run setup /forestprep and setup /domainprep from the exchange2003 cd 2. install exchange2003, move the mailboxes, retire the exchange2000 servers as per some already well documented KB articles. 3. Once I have no Exchange2000 left I will be able to run the Win2003 adprep /forestprep and domainprep and upgrade my 2000 DC's without being concerned about the inetorgpersonfix.ldf or mangled attributes. cheers Jon |

| That will work. Also be aware that you will not be able to use RPC over HTTPs until all your DC's are Windows 2003. -- John Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2006 Microsoft Certified Partner <jonbarber@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1158306323.361225.290770@m73g2000cwd.googlegr oups.com... > Thanks John, just to clarify, would you recommend the following: > > 1. run setup /forestprep and setup /domainprep from the exchange2003 cd > > 2. install exchange2003, move the mailboxes, retire the exchange2000 > servers as per some already well documented KB articles. > > 3.
