Default exchange2003 s/mime

Hi,

Does anybody how good or bad is to allow the exchange2003 clients to be able
to send secure messages using s/mime.

As far as I undertsnad I need to set either a local or public pki server so
the clients can use a certificate from it.

Any details, how good does it work for *rpc over http* ?, owa? pop3? what if
I have exchange2003 servers around the globe should I set a PKI server for
each location?

What if a user sned an encrypted message to a @hotamil.com address, will the
@hotmail.com recipient be able to read this message? what about inter-org
messages...wha is the benefit of setting SMIME for interorg messages?

thx
