Problem with Exchange 2003 Public folders
I am having a lot of trouble setting permissions in Exchange 2003. I have
Exchange 2003 installed on a Windows 2003 AD controller. Everything has
been created from scratch and all the services packs have been applied. I
created a public folder structure, then loaded items from a .pst file.
When I try to set permissions on folders, certain groups give me Access
Denied errors when I try to propagate the permissions-- Facility Win32, ID
no 80070005 in Exchange System Manager. Sometimes I get 80007004 errors as
well. I am logging on as the built in admin which has local, domain and
enterprise rights. Has anyone seen this behavior or have any ideas?

Exchange shouldn't be installed on a DC.
Is your admin account the one that was assigned Exchange rights during the
ForestPrep?

Re: Problem with Exchange 2003 Public folders
If I may ask, how come? The article below indicates that is supported.
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q321648
Yes, the admin account was the one assigned Exchange rights during
Forestprep.
One thing that seems puzzling is the behavior when you hit the Control key
when assinging client permissions in Exchange System Manager to use NT
security groups. Those don't seem to propagate well.

Re: Problem with Exchange 2003 Public folders
It's not that it isn't supported. It is. It just isn't a *recommended*
setup. It also makes life MUCH more difficult to try and recover from a
disaster. You can also have potential resource problems.
