Hello:
I'm a bit new at troubleshooting Exchange issues when transacted over VPN.
But, here's what happened as detailed as possible...
Remote user connects to our company VPN from his house.
He launched Outlook client and connects to our Exchange server well enough.
He sends about 40 or so emails over the course of a few hours.
At the end of a few hours he receives about 40 "undeliverable" emails in his Inbox.
These "undevliverable" emails relate exactly to the earlier emails he sent.
When the user came into work today, he told me about this problem and wanted me to see if I can tell if these emails got sent to their destination or not. Almost all of the "undeliverable" messages read like this,
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: FW: <title of email>
Sent: 4/18/2004 8:31 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
<some email address> (E-mail) on 4/18/2004 9:14 PM
Remote was unable to open a message for submission on the serverNetwork problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.
As far as I can tell, all the emails he originally wrote and sent went to their intended recipients alright. The reason I say this is because the "undeliverable" error messages didn't show up until many hours after the original emails were sent. Also, I checked the Exchange server logs and couldn't find any information on returned mail given the time-stamping or other criteria pertaining to those 40 particular emails...
Does someone have any information that would help me determine wheter or not certain emails were sent to their intended destination or not?
Thanks,
Paul Dorn
