| We upgraded our Ex2k on W2k SP4 environment to Ex2k3 on W2k3. Forest & Domain preps worked without problem as did subsequent Ex2k3 installs. All mail functions work normally even with old E2k servers powered off. Now we are removing the old servers and they are not gracefully going. When running setup.exe and selecting "Remove" on the component selection page, we get the pop up error: "Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for component Microsoft Exchange 2000. Error code 0x80072030 (8240): There is no such object on the server. " Install log has this: "[13:01:44] Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for the component "Microsoft Exchange 2000": 0X80072030 (8240): There is no such object on the server. [13:01:57] CComBOIFacesFactory::QueryInterface (K:\admin\src\udog\BO\bofactory.cxx:52) Error code 0X80004002 (16386): No interface." Exchange Domain Servers & Exchange Enterprise Servers remain in the USERS containor of AD (have never been moved). I have resorted to manually removing Exchange 2000 from the server (KB260378). When I get to the final step of " ESM, Right click on server, All Tasks, Remove Server", I get a similar pop up error. "Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for component Microsoft Exchange Server: 0x80072030 (8240): There is no such object on the server. Facility: Exchange System Manager ID no: c103fc97 " Do you know what may be causing this? -- Thanks, dc |

| Here is the secret. After you've manually removed Exchange 2000 from the single server, you have to use ESM for Exchange 2000 to remove the server. Using the E2k3 version to administer a E2k server was my mistake. I reinstalled the E2k version of ESM on the server and was able to remove the server via "ESM, Expand Administrative Groups, Expand First Administrative Group, Expand Servers, Right click on server to remove, Select All Tasks, Select Remove Server". -- Thanks, dc "DC" wrote: > We upgraded our Ex2k on W2k SP4 environment to Ex2k3 on W2k3.
