No NDR when sending an email from a distribution group email address.
I created a TEST distribution group (Doesn't seem to matter what kind
Universal/Global). I add my self to the new TEST group. I make the group
email enabled and set the option for "send delivery reports to message
originator". I then send an email to an address that does not exist but I
select View - From Field and change the from address to be the email address
of my TEST email enabled distribution group.
In a nut shell I'm sending an email to a non-valid address from the email
address
of the distribution group expecting to get an NDR back. The problem is that
I
never get an NDR. It appears to get stuck in the categorizer according to
mail
tracking.
I've tested this under our production Exchange 2000 environment as well as
our test 2003 environment. Can someone verify this for me to confirm that
I'm not crazy.

Re: No NDR when sending an email from a distribution group email address.
Reports generally do not go back to DG by design. You can change the report
settings on the DG to go to DG owner, with regards to NDR, you can only
make that go to the DG owner also, but you need an additonal config for
that.
If it suits your purpose, and if you want the NDR to at least go to the DG
owner, let me know.
