Messge going to the wrong mailbox
I have a Windows 2000 Domain with an Exchange 2000 Organization.
Sometimes users are receiving messages sent to different users. Yes, the
domain address is valid but the mail is being delivered to the wrong mailbox.
Example: user1 is reciving mail for User1 and with SMTP address
user1@domain.com but also receiving "sometimes" (no allways) messages for
User2 or user2@domain.com (on the headers is showing user2 address) or userX.
In other words Exchange is randomly routing improperly some external mail.
Any help?

The sender probably included the address(es) in the BCC field. Is this spam,
or legit mail?
You aren't using a POP connector, are you?

Re: Messge going to the wrong mailbox
It is spam mail in most of the cases but even when it is spam looking at the
headers there is no BCC or CC field at all. The only problem is that the MIME
address is different than the SMTP one.
I currently have 4 Exchange Servers in the Organization and only one SMTP
connector from the Master Server to a SMTP server in a DMZ zone. I should add
that 2 of them were recently added to the original Exchange 2000 organization
to reorganize and split the "mailbox" load. Yes I have some "very large"
mailboxes too.

You don't see BCC info in the headers. Only the sender can see the BCC
field. BCC is a valid thing, but spammers use it, too....
The only problem

Shouldn't be relevant. You should look into implementing something that will
prevent (at least most of) the spam from getting into your mailboxes in the
first place - GFI, Postini, etc. - there are many options.

Re: Messge going to the wrong mailbox
I have GFI running on the SMTP server and I was thinking that GFI might be
the one routing the mail to the wrong mailbox
