On our exchange 2000 server we never had any limits on
outgoing mail. We've never had any issues sending large
    messages until recently.
Within SMTP and message delivery there are no limits set.
But now when we send a 10 MB file or larger we get a
    kickback from our exchange server:
This message is larger than the current system limit
or the recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter
message body or remove attachments and try sending it
    again.

I have sent large messages to different mail servers and
    I get the same reply. I have 2 GB's free on C: and 72GB
free on D: (where exchange resides)
    Any insight would be helpful.
    Thanks

  2. Default Re: message size

    Hi Rob,

Are these outbound messages to the internet? If so, it could be limitations
that are set on the receiving server that are causing the error.

Here is an article that goes through all the places you can set limits for
sending mail. If you do not have any limits set on anything in the article,
and you can send to yourself above 10 MB, it may be the receiving server.

322679 Set Size Limits for Messages
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=322679

You can try telnetting to the receiving server on port 25. When you type
the EHLO command, it should return verbs, one will indicate a limit.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Beth
