| I'm trying to link my first bank account in Money 2007, and when I select Bank of America (California) from the list, I get a timeout and a message that "Account Setup is unavailable." Is there some special process required to link a California BOFA account to Money 2007? -- Will |

| Are you referring to Direct Connect or MSN Money sync? The difference being your login info comes from B of A for Direct Connect. If it's MSN Money sync, just keep trying -- or add the account at MSN Moneycentral and it'll sync to your MS Money. If it's Direct Connect, for some reason you need to select 'B of A all except WA, CA & ID' to get the screen that asks for your special login. The instructions they mail you actually state this, which I ignored and later realized it was correct. | I am having this same issue with BofA california. I have "kept on trying" for 3 days, and still no luck other than - account setup is unavailable. I have been able to update other accounts during this time. | It can use MSN Money Sync, however, B of A CA can also use Direct Connect. You have to enroll in it, at a cost of $9.95 per month. Free with direct-deposit; also free with some minimum balance type accounts. Thanks though ![]() "Art McClinton" <art.mcclinton@cox.net> wrote in message news:xsQti.6076$Pv4.3858@newsfe19.lga... > BoA CA uses MSN Money Sync > > "Chester" <nojunkmail@pretendmail.com> wrote in message > news:5E540033-E640-4D45-809C-A03B6F7BDA0F@microsoft.com... >> Are you referring to Direct Connect or MSN Money sync? | Did you try setting it up at the MSN Money web site? In general, I've found that I get that error a lot in Money when trying to add online access -- but I can add it at the web site and have it sync to Money (desktop) the next time I connect. If the account is already in Money, you'll have the option to merge it after the sync. | If Bank of America (California) can be set up with direct connection, how come it requires a Windows Live ID? I think you are confusing it with Bank of America (All but CA, ID, WA). When I last asked someone inside BoA in the know as to when they would provide direct connect to CA, ID and WA they indicated they did not expect that it would happen. | It's confusing, but I'm not confused -- you are I live in WA but actuallyhave my B of A checking in CA just so I can use Direct Connect. Works great -- integrated BillPay and all. CA offers it, WA doesn't. You can also set it up to just sync transactions via MSN Money Sync, which sounds like what you're doing. Sounds like your inside person isn't all that much 'in the know'... | If that is the case then please help the original requestor who could not figure out how to set it up. I am not from the west coast and have no difficulty with BoA direct connect. The requestor had problems with the Cash Edge connection to BoA CA. I have verified that under Money 2007. I then checked and my version of Money 2007 when I tried to set up an account with BoA (CA) likewise asked for Windows Live ID. You seem to know something that the group does not so it would be nice for you to share it. | When I initially had difficulty setting it all up, I called the toll-free customer service number for online services at B of A, they helped me out. The original poster should to the same. As far as my LiveID -- I sign in with it, not sure what that has to do with it or why it's a source of confusion for you. Sound like you're attempting to assist with something you're not familiar with? I've already typed what I know, you don't appear to have read it. Either way, if you're confused, your purchase of Money comes with telephone support, sounds like you need it.
