Vista linking problems

This is a discussion on Vista linking problems within the modula forums in Programming Languages category; Dear fellow modulans, I have recently acquired a Vista laptop, and when I copy over my exact same set of files and libraries from my trusty Windows 2000 machine, and try to link my code, i get an error message about UUID.LIB not being able to be opened, and then the linker (SBLINK) fails. Has anyone else encountered linking issues under Windows vista? I figured it was a permissions issue, so I went an opened up permissions to "total control" on the folder containing the library, which in this case is a microsoft visual C 5 library folder....

Default Vista linking problems

Dear fellow modulans,

I have recently acquired a Vista laptop, and when I copy over my exact
same set of files and libraries from my trusty Windows 2000 machine,
and try to link my code, i get an error message about UUID.LIB not
being able to be opened, and then the linker (SBLINK) fails. Has
anyone else encountered linking issues under Windows vista? I figured
it was a permissions issue, so I went an opened up permissions to
"total control" on the folder containing the library, which in this
case is a microsoft visual C 5 library folder.

How is anyone supposed to help you when we don't even know what
compiler/IDE you are using.

Well, Edward has written in earlier messages that he uses the
StonyBrook compiler.
That is why the linker is called SBLINK. SB is short for StonyBrook.

I have only tried runni g a few of my DOS32 programs on a Vista
machine. That went well (XP will not run them).
I have not bought Vista yet, and have therefore never tried to compile
a SBM2 program on a Vista machine.

Kind regards,

Rob van Albada, Amsterdam.

I have no issues when linking my projects under Windows vista.
Your problem is probably not OS related.

Frank.
