| This list has been silent for over 2 weeks. Just more proof that MUMPS keeps on working without a hitch. Personally, I think it's been over 15 years since I've had a system crash or database corruption. |

| Maury, I (my customers) had database corruption some times (last one last year) on MSM and few times (last one three months ago) on caché... I believe that the newsgroup silent means that few people are learning mumps or starting new projects in it. Luiz Papa Maury Pepper escreveu: > This list has been silent for over 2 weeks. | Some people are still learning M, maybe not as many as .NET but there are still a minor community out there. I was recently hired to be an M programmer for a financial company and there are at least 20 other new guys in the same position as M programmers. | Ray, It's been a few years since you decided to roll/write your own MUMPS. I (and probably a number of others) would be interested in hearing your experience since doing that. http://www.mumps.org/mumps.html shows the current version dated at 2002. Are you still developing new systems with your version? Has it expanded to any other operating systems? Any new versions? Thanks. | How time flies when you're having fun... Actually it's 7 years ago. We and a number of customers are still using it quite successfully. Current version is 1.48; we haven't done much work on it in recent years - does what we want quite well. I suspect GTM is faster and has lots more features - so if that's what you need, use GTM. MV1 is very simple to setup and use. FreeBSD or linux (if you must). I wrote my current MUMPS application in 1981; first installed easter that year - it has changed over the years first on ISM (Intersystems) then DSM-11 then MSM then VAX-DSM then MV1 - it's nice to not have to pay for the language. The application is now running down (25 years) and so am I (58 years) so I think MV1 will see me and the application out... Yet intersystems.public.cache is quite active with COS questions and new projects being mentioned. I think that the slowdown in this group is due to several factors, Cache and a lack of advertising cheif among them. |

| Ray, I'm sorry to be behind the curve on this on but could you give me/us a URL or other documentation on MV1? Thank you! | There isn't that much info - basically: http://www.mumps.org/ http://www.mumps.org/docs.html https://sourceforge.net/projects/mumps/ https://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=70056 Ray Newman mpgmr wrote: > Ray, > I'm sorry to be behind the curve on this on but could you give me/us a > URL > or other documentation on MV1? > Thank you! > Gary Shumway > > Maury Pepper wrote: > >>This list has been silent for over 2 weeks. | There is truth not up to the end. I use MUMPS near 8 months and I had already a few crashes. On the other hand traffic on comp.lang.mumps is rather poor. Hope that it will be changed soon.
