| Hi all... Is there an official, generic Mumps logo? I'd like to use the image (if available) for my desktop theme, etc. -- Duke Normandin edit my email address |

Maybe we could vote for an official, generic logo right here in this newsgroup. -- Duke Normandin edit my email address |

What's up with the M Technology Association these days? Any former Association executives reading this newsgroup? IMHO, guys like Ray Newman and others who have Open Source M compiler / interpreter projects would be prime candidates to use the logo. What do you guys think? -- Duke Normandin edit my email address |

What do > you guys think? > -- > Duke Normandin > edit my email address I am a regular reader here and was on the Board of Directors when 'M' logo was developed for use by M Technology Association. I do not recall if we obtained a copyright on it or not. However, I am not sure why or how anyone could complain about its use. After all, MTA was all about spreading the word about the technology and serving the needs of the members of the association. Its design was intended to suggest forward movement or forward thinking and have a look that suggested technology. In my humble opinion, anyone could use it if it were not for commercial purposes (whatever that means these days), but instead in the spirit of a fraternity of like-minded professionals that understand and love and use the technology. | It's used within the CAMTA logo here in the UK: http://www.camta.net/ Unfortunately these days the general impression I get is that rather than wanting to actively advertise and promote their use of Mumps, a lot of people end up being apologetic about using it and/or actively going out of their way to not use the word for fear of having their application or solution branded as using outdated, old-fashioned or just plain bad technology. This, of course, does the technology a great dis-service, particularly given the furrow we plough in the web app development marketplace where we're demonstrably doing really cool, leading edge stuff with ease that most of the big players are only just talking about doing or struggling with implementing (eg the fully-fledged database-linked transactional web desktop). I, for one, am all for promoting Mumps. Since it looks to me that this is exactly what is going on here, it should be OK to use the logo.
