| I'm using mutt 1.4.2 binary version from http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/packages/mutt.html for AIX 5.1. After using mutt to send a pdf attachment, the Acrobat Reader reports "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." Mutt works just fine for plain text attachment. The command I'm doing is. echo "Here is your file..." | mutt -a file.pdf -s file.pdf email@company.com Does anyone know what my problem is? Thanks for any future reply, Dick |

I don't really know what the problem is, but I have seen problems sending PDF attachments between Unix and DOS systems when the sending mailer uses quoted-printable encoding for the attachment. So if it's OK for you to send that attachment from mutt in interactive mode rather than batch mode, you might try selecting base64 encoding rather than quoted-printable. You can do this from the Compose menu by moving the cursor to the attachment, typing Ctrl-E, and entering "base64" at the prompt. HTH, Gary |

| I tested it running in interactive mode and changing the attachment from quoted-printable to base64 and still the same problem with file is damaged and could not be repaired. Also failed to mentioned that I do need to run the mutt in batch mode. Does anyone else have any other mutt suggestions? In other words, I compress i (file.pdf.Z) then I email the compressed file. This works fine but i add extra steps in the process. Regards.
