some "l" (ell) patterns that should(?) work, but don'

These three work fine as mutt-pats for "l" (ell) commmand:

! ( ~f dkcombs | ~s pacifica | ~s alliance | ~s wbai | ~f huffingtonpost | ~f commondreams | ~f tompaine | ~f alternet | ~s lynx | ~f palast | ~f motherjones )


! ( ~s "pacifica" | ~s "alliance" | ~s "wbai" ) ( ~s "long" )
! ( ~s "pacifica" | ~s "alliance" | ~s "wbai" ) ( ~s "adult " )
( ~s "macy " )


But not these two:

! ( ~s "pacifica" | ~s "alliance" | ~s "wbai" ) ~s "long" | ~s adult " | ~s "dear "
! ( ~s "pacifica" | ~s "alliance" | ~s "wbai" ) ( ~s "long" | ~s adult " | ~s "dear " )

Why not?



Oh, please document (or better yet, fix!), any trailing whitespace
IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY TRIMMED AWAY.

The FIX is for mutt to of course do a "trim" at both ends.

(If someone *wants* trailing spaces in a pattern, he can/should us quotes)

Both have unmatched quote characters.

Mutt takes user input. Why should it modify that?

If someone does not want trailing spaces, do not enter them.
