SUCKS!

Ive never dealt with a company so tight lipped and lacking any user
involvement!

I really have the impression that they only purchased fusion for
motives that will further advance thier own webdesign shop. I see
ZERO effort on their end now... sure they release a product V7- since
then- its like they all fled to Mexico to hang with the Enron crowd.

I've been playing with Dreamweaver MX over the past few weeks... and I
tell you its not that hard in fact its pretty easy- and it does a
ton of stuff Fusion does not do. It also has a new collaboration
addon that lets clients edit their own site- and support!!!! WOW you
can beat it! there are support resources out there that blow your
mind!

You know its sad- Fusion was a great app at one time but it it
withering away under the leadership of Websitepros.
GotFusion-you may want to consider branching out in to generic
website development support because I dont see Fusion having much of a
lifeline.

Hopefully for all of you that rely on it as your primary development
source, I may be wrong - time will tell

Marc: (or should I say Mr. Stabley)

I noticed something very very odd... are you intentionally spoofing my ip
information in the headers or are you legitimately on the SUSCOM cable
modem York segment?

Although I agree with some of your post....

Im interested in knowing if you are right down the street or some punk
trying to be slick. If you are the latter...I suggest you stop spoofing
my IP... My kungfu skills may be stronger than yours <grin> Mr.
Stabley... I eat, breathe, and sleep IP routing and Sec/IDS.

M. Reed ( will the real slim shady please stand up )

(for the group... look at the full headers of his post... same IP info as
mine.... however my legitimate postings have the gotfusion login
username embeded)

we now return you to your previously scheduled program.

Just a quick note dreamweaver 6-01 update is axailable free
to fix bugs quick or what wsp note.
we love fusion but so far have had hold of a very shi**y stick, lack of
support etc.
very buggy product, give the source code to fusion users we will support it
and build it to first place product because i belive wsp will drop it soon.

Mark, would you have an 802.11x access point on your LAN? Or a Rogue
Laptop with a wired NIC that also happens to have a 802.11x PC card
installed with "ad-hoc" networking enabled?

No -

I use and Aironet 350 with EAP ( I have a Cisco lab setup for CCIE study )

this same joker is the the same guy that lives nearby and thinks he's slick
by ARP spoofing and setting his cable modem MAC address to that of another
person downstream....taking thier IP on the lease renew.

Ive been getting duplicate IP errors off an on and have traced it back to
his node from my ISP's records and sniffer logs.

His days are numbered. <grin>

OK, sounds to me like you have this well in hand...

A good tactic at this point might be to document and report this to your
cable company ISP, and get his service yanked for violating the terms of
service.

That would be the politically correct thing to do...

however I prefer more guerilla type tactics

One can always get another ISP...<grin>

Plus it allows me to sharpen my own skills hahaha.

You are right Marc. Fusion is a joke. It was advanced when it was first
released but now... ?
The only way you can do anything with it is because of components developed
by users.

Dreamweaver has a million components and add-ons, mostly free. Dreamweaver
is a stealth bomber to Fusion's biplane.
I want to use an asp shoppng cart. Fusion won't open or import it.
Dreamweaver will. Front Page will, even that newcomer Namo will.

Speaking of Namo I just looked at the latest trial How about the pixel
precise positioning? Then you can turn the page into a table that will
expand to browser width!
Then there are the flash buttons that you can create, expanding navigation
menus, inbuilt database functionality, and a truckload of features that
Fusion should have had years ago.

I wish it wasn't so. It is not that I want to drop Fusion but it is like
trying to compete in a race driving a car from the 1920's.

Mark,

How did you discover what this guy was doing? That is, what asymptomatic
net behavior and clues led to your discovery?

thx

Loss of connectivity... and when I talked to my ISP they kept saying
everything was ok on thier end.

So after checking all the physical areas and logical setup areas... and
they all tested out fine...and the modem was connected to the cable
company segment.... I decided to setup a secondary PC on another cable
modem I had and to set a static IP and forced a lease renew on it.. (I
probabbly took someone elses IP for a short period of time..Oh well).. in
order to run a sniffer and see what kind of data was flowing out there
when my primary PC and cable modem was trying to establish connectivity.

(I had to modify the cable modem defaults in order to see all the traffic
and to run a sniffer on the segment)

From that I saw DHCP errors for a duplicate IP address - mine. There
were packets being sent to my MAC and IP addresses. These were valid IP
sessions with various websites etc...so I knew someone had my IP and
changed thier MAC address to mine in order to aquire my IP on the lease
renew.

The nice thing is ... email sends its authentication in plain text... so
I was able to find out everything about this joker... his username and
email password when he checked his own personal email while spoofing me.

I wont say where I went from there... <grin>

I did however purchase a static IP from my ISP so that I do not have to
deal with leasing issues liek this in the future... plus I wanted a
static anyways for personal server use.
