| my website, www.skedaddlescooters.com, seems fine when i view it on my laptop. however, when viewed on other pc's the website is way too big as if you set your zoom to 200% its original size. I do not understand why this is happening and I would like it to be viewed properly by anyone who views it. If anyone has suggestions as to how i can fix this please email me: service@skedaddlescooters.com or post a reply |

| Hi Michael, I am not sure what the problem is. The pics look OK here. What specifically is the problem. | Hi Michael, You have your layout set to 876 pixels. The majority of users displays are set to 800 x 600 or even 1024 x 768 which is what setting I use on most of my network boxes. Your mileage may vary. I have the horizontal scroll on the 3 browsers I tried it in. IE, FF, Op - Can you cut the page width down to at least 775 or 800 without compromise? Make pics smaller is another route. You could get away with 50% decrease in size and it should give up considerable space. - HTH, Bert "michael newgent" <service@skedaddlescooters.com> wrote in message news:egvv9o$rod3@flsun90netnews01.netobjects.com.. . > > > my website, www.skedaddlescooters.com, seems fine when i view it on my > laptop. however, when viewed on other pc's the website is way too big as > if you set your zoom to 200% its original size. | You need to consider screen resolution. Many people have 800 x 600 screens, some of my visitors are still on 640 x480. So anything over 640 is too big. If you are working with a 1400 x 1050 or something like that, and design it to look good that way it will be too big on a 800 x 600. I also stay away from wide site design because although I now use a 1280 x 800 notebook, I normally have my bookmarks open and 10 other screens or programs open and don't like to maximize my browser. | What program are you using to track users browser size? I use a program called sizer to set my browser to the 3 most popular sizes so I can see what the user would see if they came to a site I developed. Program is freeware, google sizer.exe. I have Urchin statistics running on my server but it doesn't capture screen resolution... Or at least last I looked at ver 5 it didn't. | I'm using google analytics. Has a lot of good stuff on it, although it was a pain to put the code on 300+ pages Richard Widman www.widman.biz Bolivia On Mon, Oct 16 2006 8:17 pm, "Franklyn" <franklyn@galacticzero.net> said: >What program are you using to track users browser size? | Ditto that. Google Analytics is terrific and it's free. Great info on browsers, screen res, platforms, plug-ins, and so much more. I simply copied and pasted their code into the end of body tab in my master borders' html -- about 30 of them for 3 sites. --Nancy <Widman> wrote in message news:1_84_7674@gfwebforum.com... > I'm using google analytics.
