| (this is a problem w NOF 7.5 -- however, that forum seems inactive) hi all, i'm remodeling an older website that i did using frames.... suddenly the left side frame is not as wide as it should be, and instead has a horizontal scroll bar. it looks fine (no scroll bar) in local publishing (IE) here's a view: http://www.calkinsart.net/thumbs/htm...bspt_2005.html i did not change any values, as far as i know. i imported the template from my W98 into my XP computer, running NOF 7.5, same program as on the W98. TIA -- sabine ps. turns out the view of the side menu in *firefox* is totally off. i changed to a table for the text, in order to get it lined up better. is this part of the problem? |

| You can have masterborders without frames. Read this: Why Frames are Evil http://www.html-faq.com/htmlframes/?framesareevil --Nancy O. | Nancy -- the new pages i made are w/out frames. for the old ones i am stuck w frames -- i just want to edit them to make them streamlined. even though the width of the left frame is marked at 245, something is overriding it and making it narrow. where would i find this in the html to correct it? sabine "Nancy O" <nancyoshea1@NOSPAMatt.net> wrote in message news:g40h9m$8k62@flsun90netnews01.netobjects.com.. . > You can have masterborders without frames. > > Read this: Why Frames are Evil > http://www.html-faq.com/htmlframes/?framesareevil > > > --Nancy O. > Alt-Web Design & Publishing > www.alt-web.com > > > "sabine" <sabcalk@calkinsart.net> wrote in message > news:g40cpt$73p5@flsun90netnews01.netobjects.com.. . >> (this is a problem w NOF 7.5 -- however, that forum seems inactive) >> >> hi all, i'm remodeling an older website that i did using frames.... > suddenly >> the left side frame is not as wide as it should be, and instead has a >> horizontal scroll bar. it looks fine (no scroll bar) in local publishing >> (IE) >> here's a view: http://www.calkinsart.net/thumbs/htm...bspt_2005.html >> >> i did not change any values, as far as i know. >> i imported the template from my W98 into my XP computer, running NOF 7.5, >> same program as on the W98. >> >> TIA -- sabine >> >> ps. turns out the view of the side menu in *firefox* is totally off. i >> changed to a table for the text, in order to get it lined up better. is > this >> part of the problem? >> >> > > |

| Make leftframe wider to accomodate the content inside it. Scrollbars will go away (until someone increases text size in their browser). --Nancy O. The placement of some stuff in your left navigation frame is whacky. An image of a bird displays off to the right near the top in IE, but closer to the middle and on top of some text in Firefox. -- Larry J. - Remove spamtrap in ALLCAPS to e-mail "A lack of common sense is now considered a disability, with all the privileges that this entails." |

| Fixed division layout would cause this. Dynamic layouts give much better cross browser rendering. Also, the scrollbar style is useless in any browser except IE, so I would take it out. Try making your frame width 400px and see if that gets rid of the scrollbars. --Nancy O.
